lyrics

Sit down sonny and I’ll tell you a story, of a poor wretched sin of a man
Born in Morell or some say hell, I’ll believe in the latter if I can.
Oh he lived for the ladies and he lived for the liquor, till he found himself in cards one day
Said “It’s can’t be sinning if I just keep winning, so I’ll take all your money if I may!”

Cause there ain`t none wiser than the Morell Miser
You got to give that devil his due
If you think yourself wiser than that Morell Miser
You’re gonna get what’s coming to you

Well the priest of the parish didn’t like this to much, the collection was coming up dry
The totals had him floored, so he prayed unto the Lord, and just then that Miser walked by
He said “Father, it’s a shame! That collection is a shame! Some might call it a sin!
If you’re willing and you’re able, come on down to my table, and see what you can win!”

Cause there ain`t none wiser than the Morell Miser
You got to give that devil his due
If you think yourself wiser than that Morell Miser
You’re gonna get what’s coming to you

So he said the Our Father and he sat at the table, I’ll tell you what he did see
A farmer, the barber, an MLA’s daughter, and a member of the RCMP
Then the miser showed up and those cards started flying, the money started changing hands
Before he dealt some more something fell on the floor, and that’s when it all hit the fan

Cause there ain`t none wiser than the Morell Miser
You got to give that devil his due
If you think yourself wiser than that Morell Miser
You’re gonna get what’s coming to you

What fell to the floor no one seems to know, the farmer did take a peek
He said no more, ran straight out the door, the barber let out a shriek
Then the miser stood up, and their jaws all dropped, the priest said the good lord`s name
With hooves and a tail that miser did wail, and vanish in a ball of flame
Cause there ain`t none wiser than the Morell Miser
You got to give that devil his due
If you think yourself wiser than that Morell Miser
You’re gonna get what’s coming to you
